2. PRESENT EVALUATION METHOD OF THE OPERATION EFFICIENCY FROM THE VIEW OF MOORED SILlP MOTIONS
The operation efficiency by the present evaluation method from the view of moored ship motions is calculated for a berth in a model harbor. The calculation term is three months on a summer season.
2.1 CALCULATION CONDITIONS FOR MOORED SHIP
(1) MODEL HARBOR AND BERTH
Fig.-1 shows a model harbor which is a typical reclaimed harbor. A model berth for 15,000DWT ship is located at a slip entrance. The water depth is 10m.

(2) SHIP MOORING CONDITIONS
The berth is a public berth. So various size 499GT-20,000GT ships and some kinds of ships use the berth. In accordance with situations of the berth usage, the kind andsizes of object ships are set to be 696GT and 15.000DWT cargo ships as minimum and maximum size ones. The ship condition is a half load conditions as shown in Table-i. The mooring conditions for each ship are set properly as shown in Fig.-2. The installed fenders are V-type fenders which are selected from 15.000DWT ship berthing energy.

2.2 CONDITIONS OF EXTERNAL FORCES
Offshore wave characteristics of the harbor are given as annual data of significant wave heights and periods The wave spectra at the berth are able to be derived from the offshore wave ones by using a proper calculation method of inside harbor waves4) For example, Table-2 shows a part of offshore wave characteristics (the joint distribution of occurrence of the significant wave height and wave direction) and the calculation results of waves at the berth. Annual wind data is also observed as a fixed time observation at a weather station which is near the harbor.
